Langevin Again Spends Money We Don’t Have
NORTH KINGSTOWN – Today Mark Zaccaria, Republican candidate for Congress, sharply criticized his opponent, Congressman Jim Langevin, for a recent vote in support a bill creating another multi-billion dollar slush fund.
The bill, H.R.5297, creates a $30 Billion government lending fund which will be administered by the U.S. Treasury. The bill passed the House by a 241-182 vote on June 17th.
“We have got to stop spending money we don’t have! I know from the inside how small business works. Why create a $30 Billion slush fund when you could give a $30 Billion tax cut to small businesses and help everyone out? We shouldn’t be singling out particular industries when all Rhode Islanders are feeling the economic pains,” said Zaccaria. “Everyone should know that giving the federal government yet another multi-billion dollar allowance will result in inefficient use, if not misuse of that asset. We cannot condone such tunnel vision at such a critical economic moment.”
Zaccaria went on to illustrate the lack of independent thinking from his opponent.
“Mr. Langevin’s vote in favor of this bill is yet another case of his blind devotion to Speaker Pelosi,” Zaccaria said. “It’s impossible for Mr. Langevin, who votes with his party 99.2% of the time, to provide the people of Rhode Island with the independent voice and leadership that we expect from our elected officials. Mr. Langevin can continue to be a pawn of his party; I will be beholden to the will of the people.”
Mark Zaccaria is a resident of North Kingstown, RI, where he runs a small business. He and his wife, Ruth, have been married for 35 years. They have three grown children who are all residents of the state. Learn more about Mark’s candidacy for congress at the web site: www.zaccariaforuscongress.com
